Teachers Loan News Update from DepEd and Land Bank of the Philippines

It's about time that an agreement signed by the Education Secretary, Armin Luistro in cooperation with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) and the Department of Education (DepEd). The agreement to lend livelihood loans to public school teachers at low interest rates has been signed last year, 2014. Under this loan facility program, the credit extension is given to qualified DepEd employees. Payment term includes via salary deduction scheme.

The Loan Agreement:

This agreement states that a loanable amount of as much as 500,000 or an equivalent of up to 8 months of their gross pay at a yearly interest rate of only 10.5 %. On the other hand, a bigger amount, which cannot exceed a money value of Php 1 million, is being made available for qualified borrower DepEd officials at the same interest rate as that offered for rank-and-file employees.

Agribank PPN Teachers Loan

Otherwise known as the Puhunang Pangkabuhayn ng mga Namamasukan, the PPN Loan offers no hidden charges for teachers and DepEd employees looking to apply for loan. It’s a salary loan with very low interest rate. Below is the list of requirements. (image source: www.agribank.com.ph)

Loan Requirements:

  • 3 Original payslip (3 consecutive mos.)
  • Photocopy of Latest Service record
  • Photocopy of Appointment Record
  • 2 valid PRC Identification Card and DepEd Identification Card
  • 4 latest picture (2x2)

Requirements and Interest Rate on Salary Loan for Teachers and DepEd Employees by AgriBank

2 Interest Rate Choices:

There are basically just two choices for your teachers loan interest rate with AgriBank.

  1. 0.9% per month for 1 year term
  2. 1.0% per month for 2 years term

Preset and Prequalifying Requirements:

  1. 3 consecutive month original payslip
  2. photocopy of your Service Record
  3. Appointment Paper & Cedula
  4. 4 pcs 2×2 ID picture
  5. 2 pcs any valid government ID’s (SCHOOL, PRC or GSIS ID)
  6. 2 co-teachers as your co-maker /  co-borrower (with Cedula, 1×1 ID picture, 1 updated payslip & 2 pcs Any Government ID’s)

Those with complete set of requirements will have the chance for a 1 day release loan process. Also open during Saturdays for interested loan applicants.

Avail of the PPSTA 300K Teachers Loan Program for Public School Mentors

UnionBank City Savings Teachers Loan

Through UnionBank's City Savings loan, teachers are given the chance to qualify to apply for cash credit in the Philippines. Below are the pre requisites and pre qualifying requirements, loan payment terms, new loan and reloan requirements, fees and charges, loan pre-termination issues, how fast is the loan proceeds released, loan consolidation or redemption options and more. Qualifications:

  • DepEd regular employee
  • RPSU-paid
  • Below 58 years old or 60 years old upon loan maturity
  • At least 3,000 pesos net pay after CitySavings' deduction

New Loan

  • Your latest pay slip (1 original copy)
  • Your previous 2 month's pay slip (1 original copy)
  • Certificate of Appointment (1 photocopy)
  • Permanent Appointment (1 photocopy)
  • 2 valid IDs (1 photocopy)
  • Cedula
  • Filled out application form
  • One co-maker (co-maker's signature is needed on the application form)
  • Co-maker DepEd ID (1 photocopy)

Reloan

  • Your latest pay slip (1 original copy)
  • Your previous 2 month's pay slip (1 original copy)

Loan Payment Terms Available:

Our longest term is 36, 24, 18 and 12 months. But we can be flexible depending on your needs. If you want to pay off your loan in 20 months instead of 18 or 24, we can make it work for you. Just tell our loan specialist about it when you apply

Maximum Loanable Amount:

You can loan any amount up to an aggregate of P875,000. Please note that your loanable amount will be computed based on our minimum net take home pay requirement of P3,000. (ask from a customer service assistant).

Interest Rate and Charges:

Monthly interest rate is variable depending on the tenor of your loan. Bank charges include a is 6% fee of the amount loaned (2% bank charge, 3% taxes, 1% service fee). There are no hidden charges and no pre-termination charge. No membership fee required, no loan insurance deductions and no need to open up a savings account with the bank.

Approval and claim or loan proceeds is within 1 hour during off-peak days and 1 day if you apply on peak days / hours.
